Reimagining the Upper Hunter

The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle will be holding a special gathering for all parishioners of Upper Hunter parishes on Sunday 9 November from 10am – 3pm at St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen.

The gathering will provide a special forum for people of the region to come together and hold conversations about the present issues facing the church and what might be possible for now and beyond.

Bishop Bill Wright will be in attendance at the gathering, and expects to see many potential suggestions discussed for how parishes remain connected to communities in this time of change:

“I’m looking forward to having an opportunity to participate in open discussion with the parishioners of the Upper Hunter and agreeing on suggestions to see this region continue to grow its faith into the future,”

“As Bishop, I have always aimed to best serve the people of the Diocese through ongoing conversation and this event only further cements my commitment to consultation with all of our parishioners,” Bishop Bill said.

Facilitated by Vice Chancellor of Pastoral Ministries – Teresa Brierley the day will be held at St Joseph’s High School Aberdeen and all are strongly encouraged to attend:

“This is a significant milestone in the future development of our local church and one I hope our parishioners and communities seize with much enthusiasm,”

“Our church is there for all of us when we need it, and I know many of us will be there for it in planning for the future,” Mrs Brierley said.

Commencing with mass at 10.00am, the Regional Gathering for people of the Upper Hunter is a unique and exciting event for the whole community.

RSVPs are essential.
