Deaneries

The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is divided into four deaneries. Each deanery joins together neighbouring pastoral regions.

A priest (known as a "dean") is appointed by the Bishop to head up each deanery. A dean has a number of roles within their assigned region, including fostering support between parishes, sharing resources within the deanery and co-ordinating pastoral activity.

The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is made up of four deaneries -
