The village community of Glendon Brook near Singleton was overflowing to commemorate the 125th anniversary of its small but unique St Paul’s Church.

An Ecumenical Service was held in St Paul's on Sunday 26 October. The presider at this inspiring ritual was Bishop Bill with Fr George Mullappallil, Administrator of Singleton parish, Dr John Webster representing the Uniting Church and Arch Deacon Charlie Murry from the Anglican Church.

Special guests were the Sisters of St Joseph in recognition and appreciation of their many years of teaching and pastoral care in the parish’s history.

Immediately following the Service, a tree planting ceremony was held in the church grounds. Lunch and festivities continued in the nearby Glendon Brook hall.  Though everyone sweltered in the 40 degree heat, it did not detract from the elation and excitement of this significant occasion.

Being a community gathering, a raffle was held with the prize a beautiful oil painting of the church by Glendon Brook ‘old boy’ and well known artist John Boyce. The winner was Bishop Bill who was also celebrating his birthday, a fitting end to a most enjoyable day.
