CatholicCare Social Services secures a bright future in Taree

This Friday, CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning will officially open a brand new office at Taree that will be a hub of support for people in the Greater Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester regions.

Bishop Bill Wright will join staff and clients of CatholicCare, politicians, leaders and representatives from the government and non-government sectors, for the opening and blessing of the new building at 10.30am, 32-34 Pulteney Street, Taree. A Welcome to Country will also be an integral part of the opening.

CatholicCare Regional Manager, Helga Smit, said that while it is wonderful to enjoy the new facilities, it is her staff that truly makes a difference in people’s lives.

"CatholicCare is proud of its knowledgeable, skilled and passionate staff, who serve the vulnerable and marginalised of our region, leading to life-changing solutions for individuals and a positive impact on the community," Ms Smit said.

“We recently won the “Excellence in Social Enterprise and Community Services” award at the Manning Great Lakes Business Awards and this recognition is as much for our team’s commitment to our community, the warmth and friendliness on offer to all who walk through our doors, as it is for our programs,” she said.

Former clients of CatholicCare Taree will be speaking about their personal experience of receiving support form CatholicCare and how the organisation walked alongside them on the road to a better life.

Bishop Bill will be joined at the opening by the Director of CatholicCare, Lisa Short, who has high hopes for the organisation and its future growth.

"CatholicCare (formerly Centacare) has a great reputation in the community services sector for providing more than 50 years of quality care to individuals, children, and families," Mrs Short said.

"I am looking forward to the opening of our new office at Taree and the prospect of assisting even more people in our community from our new location," she said.

A highlight of the opening, which will be attended by a number of CatholicCare clients and their children, will be the arrival of Peppa Pig and some face-painting fun for the children.  Aboriginal dancers will be performing and entertainment and catering from local schools will also be provided.
