Diocesan Council for Ministry with Young People

Youth Council

The Diocesan Council for Ministry with Young People (DCMYP)serves as an advisory body to the Bishop to foster a passionate, imaginative and vibrant community of faith-filled people. The Council seeks to provide initiatives within the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle that give young people opportunities to experience, explore and develop their faith with other like-minded young people. These initiatives are underpinned by the goals of the ACBC Office for Youth document, "Anointed and Sent."

  1. To foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person
  2. To draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community
  3. To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.

Young Christian Students

The Diocese Council for Ministry with Young People have been exploring the possibility of re-introducing the Young Christian Students (YCS) movement back into the Diocese.

YCS is a movement that is run for, by and with secondary school students. YCS aims to empower students to take action in their own lives in order to change the world around them in the light of their faiths and beliefs.
