Holy Spirit Schools Abermain and Kurri Kurri Centenary and Official Opening
Holy Spirit Schools Abermain and Kurri Kurri are celebrating their Centenary and the official opening of the new school facilities at Holy Spirit Infants, Abermain, tomorrow, 3 July.
“We are proud of the achievements of the schools, where we are now and our future direction. Holy Spirit Schools have played an important role in the community and we’re very grateful that the community has come together to help with the re-development at Abermain,” said Mr Paul O’Heir principal of Holy Spirit Primary School, Kurri Kurri.
Renovations to Holy Spirit Infants School at Abermain include a number of new air-conditioned classrooms, a library, administration area and staff facilities. The school now also features Interactive Smart Boards in classrooms and new playground equipment.
These improvements were funded by a grant from the Commonwealth government, the NSW Government’s Interest Subsidy Scheme, the “Investing in Our Schools” program, the Work for the Dole scheme and the Diocesan Family Schools building Levy.
“People will be surprised; the school is so different to what it used to be, it looks great,” said Ms Niamh Marzol, Principal at Holy Spirit infants, Abermain.
Highlights of tomorrow’s celebrations include the unveiling of a centenary plaque and a display of photos and other memorabilia. A cake will be cut by the oldest and youngest students from the Schools.
Celebrations begin at 10:30am at Holy Spirit Infants Abermain and continue from 1.00pm at Holy Spirit Primary School, Kurri Kurri.
This Sunday, July 6, celebrations continue with Mass at Holy Spirit Church, Kurri Kurri at 9.30 am. Following the Mass the schools will be open to members of the community.
