Taree and Gloucester Community Aged Care
Service Relocates
During
a special ceremony this Friday 21st March, the Most Reverend Michael
Malone, Catholic Bishop of Maitland-Newcastle, will officially
open and bless new premises for the Taree and Gloucester Community
Care Unit of Catholic Care of the Aged (CCA).
The new Community
Care Unit, St Anthony's, is situated in Commerce Street Taree.
The unit was previously housed in St Paul's Hostel Cundletown.
According
to Mrs Lynne Graham, Manager of Community Care, "The purchase
of a new house for the Taree and Gloucester Districts Community
Care is significant because it demonstrates CCA's commitment to
the development of community care services in this area.
"The
relocation of the service means that there are more opportunities
to expand service delivery to include the commencement of a social
program for clients of Community Aged Care Packages and the commencement
of foot care clinics."
CCA's Community
Care receives funding from the Commonwealth Government to provide
support services to frail aged persons living in the community
who have been assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team as needing
low level residential care.
Taree and
Gloucester Districts operate 45 community aged care packages in
their respective areas. Services provided to individuals include
personal care, housekeeping, meal preparation, transport, shopping
and some therapeutic services such as monitoring of medications.
Generally,
services are targeted to minimise the deficits in activities of
daily living that an individual may experience and to assist them
to remain safe and secure in their own home.
Community
Care services are also provided in the Newcastle, Maitland, Port
Stephens and East Lake Macquarie areas.
The
opening and blessing of St Anthony House, CCA's new Taree and
Gloucester Community Care Unit will take place this Friday 21st
March at 11:30 am. St
Anthony House is situated at 36 Commerce Street Taree.
