Cessnock Community to Rally Against Unemployment
The Cessnock community will unite to tackle unemployment at the Two Bishops Trust Employment Rally and Community Options Workshop on 11-12 March.

The Rally will begin next Tuesday 11th March at 9:30 am with a welcome from the Mayor of Cessnock, Mr John Clarence. Bishop Roger Herft of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle will open the rally.

Following the opening, a number of key community identities will participate in a 'Raising the Issues Forum', where they will each speak briefly on unemployment and answer questions from the audience.

Panellists will include Deputy Vice Chancellor Brian English of the University of Newcastle, Bishop Michael Malone of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, Federal MP Joel Fitzgibbon, Samaritans CEO Cec Shevels, Hunter Valley Gardens General Manager David Mulham and youth representative Sara Last.

Facilitator Peter Kenyon will lead the workshop, guiding participants to develop an employment strategy that will define a path for the employment future of the community.

The Two Bishops Trust has gathered support from local industry and the business community as well as the Government.

To date, local sponsors for the event include Hunter Valley Gardens, Hydro Aluminium, Hunter Area Consultative Committee, University of Newcastle, Coal & Allied, HPOTS Training, Tyrrell's Wines, Wesley Uniting Employment and Salvation Army Employment Plus.

The Two Bishops Trust, a collaborative venture between the Hunter's Anglican and Catholic Churches, aims to inspire and unite the whole community in finding workable, just and creative solutions to unemployment.
