Bishops' Call to Join the Fight Against Unemployment
Friends old and new will gather with Anglican Bishop Roger Herft and Catholic Bishop Michael Malone this Thursday at the launch of a special project to demonstrate their support for the Two Bishops Trust in the fight against unemployment.

"Friends of The Two Bishops Trust", an initiative that gives all members of the community the chance to be a partner in tackling unemployment in the Hunter Region, will be launched at Hunter Valley Gardens' Conference Centre at 5pm.

According to Two Bishops Trust Project Development Coordinator, David Baker, "Anyone can become a friend of the Trust and make a difference in reducing the impact of unemployment on our region".

"Individuals, community organisations, business or government can become a friend by pledging their support in ways suit their circumstances."

Current friends of the Two Bishops Trust include:

  • Hunter Valley Gardens
  • Enigma Advertising
  • Charlestown Bowling Club
  • Weston Workers Club
  • Australian Rugby Union
  • Coal and Allied
  • Microsoft
  • Peter Doyle Cellars
  • Morpeth Anglican and Catholic parishes
  • Anglican and Catholic parish volunteers who actively support Trust projects through fundraising, offering their skills as mentors to unemployed people, donation of goods and services etc.

"The launch is an opportunity to welcome new friends and acknowledge those individuals, groups and organisations who have been a friend and supported the work of the Trust over the past five years. It will be a celebration of the Trust's achievements!" said Mr Baker.

An exciting employment partnership in the Cessnock region between the Two Bishops Trust and the biggest employers in the Cessnock Hospitality Industry, including Hunter Valley Gardens and Harrigan's Irish Pub, will also be announced at the event.
