Well Known Biblical Lecturer Returns to
the Hunter
Not
sure how to make sense of the stories from the early chapters
of Genesis? Are you unsure about answering your children's or
grandchildren's questions? How, why and when was the Old Testament
written? Or are you interested in learning more about the historical
Jesus from the different viewpoints of the Gospel writers?
As a follow-up
to her very popular lecture sessions last year, well known biblical
studies lecturer Dr Antoinette Collins will return to the Diocese
of Maitland-Newcastle to present two workshops on Friday 16th
May, 2003.
The workshops
are open to all people but are particularly aimed at those people
who voluntarily teach religious education in the Hunter's state
schools.
During her
day workshop at Kotara South, Dr Collins will present an overview
of how the gospels were written and discuss what can be learnt
about the historical Jesus from the different viewpoints of the
Gospel writers.
In her evening
session Dr Collins will repeat her 2002 sessions that explore
how and when the Bible was written and discuss some recent research
on the early chapters of Genesis.
Dr
Collins, who has a background in primary school education, has
studied at Oxford University on the Book of Genesis. She has taught
at the University of Sydney and St Paul's National Seminary Kensington.
Currently she teaches biblical studies at the Australian Catholic
University and Aquinas Academy in Sydney.
