5th December 2002
Graduation of Catholic Care of the Aged Staff
Twenty three Catholic Care of the Aged (CCA) staff were honoured at a Graduation Ceremony held today (Thursday, 5th December 2002) to mark their success in completing various courses of study to support their work with aged people.

The courses have been completed during the last year and reflect success by staff in the Certificate III Community Services Aged Care Work, Certificate IV Workplace Assessor, the Enrolled Nursing course, Graduate Certificate in Aged Care Management, Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

Most of the staff have undertaken their course of study through education provided by Catholic Care of the Aged, but some are being recognised for education completed through Universities.

The Ceremony was conducted in the Chapel at St Joseph's Home, Sandgate in the presence of family of the graduands and Bishop Michael Malone, Bishop of Maitland-Newcastle.

Mr Ralph Watson, CEO of Catholic Care of the Aged, stated: "CCA is very pleased to celebrate the success of its staff as they complete various courses of study which will improve their knowledge and skills in care of the aged".

He added: "Up to date education of staff is a core value of CCA and an absolute necessity to ensure that aged people are receiving the best care that can possibly be provided".

The Graduation Ceremony was followed by the presentation of Service Awards to sixty long serving members of staff who have worked for CCA for between ten and twenty five years.

Mr Watson stated: "The Service Awards recognise the deep dedication of staff who work in aged care".
