Lions
Club's Generosity Provides an Improved View for Exercise
Residents
at St Martin de Porres Hostel, Waratah, will today take charge
of a new 68 cm television, courtesy of the Lions Club of Mayfield.
The new TV replaces a small screened TV located in the activities
room, which has been largely used to screen the residents' exercise
video.
Mr
Roy Wholahan, a long-standing member of the Lions Club of Mayfield,
is largely responsible for the gift. On one of his regular visits,
he was alerted to the residents' need for a larger screened TV.
Many residents involved in the exercise regime were unable to
see the exercises clearly because of the size of the screen.
After
discussions at the club, the decision was made to direct some
of their hard-earned funds towards the new television.
Hostel
Manager, Leah Sattler, said that the residents were overwhelmed
by the generosity of the Club.
"We
at St Martin's are ecstatic over this wonderful gift. As well
as making life easier when we run our exercise program, it will
provide hours of entertainment for our residents." she said.
"It will be wonderful to see the Melbourne Cup on the big
screen!"
Mr
Wholahan said that there was a great need for others in the community
to be involved in Lions Club activities as numbers were dwindling.
"Our
club has assisted many in the community over a forty year period,
with each project assessed on its own merit, " he said. "There's
always lots to do and we would welcome any new members with open
arms."
