650 People Expected to Attend Newcastle "EVITA" Premiere
Over 600 people are expected to attend the Newcastle Premiere of "EVITA" in aid of the McAuley Program this evening at the Tower Cinemas, King Street Newcastle.

All proceeds from the evening will assist the various projects which make up the McAuley Program - a program providing an innovative multi-disciplinary approach to the problems of homelessness and drug dependency in our society.

A community-initiated and based project sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, the McAuley Program offers a range of services to individuals and families who are affected by drug problems and who often find themselves caught in a cycle of poverty, abuse and homelessness which may be perpetuated and escalated throughout succeeding generations.

The Program places emphasis on the learning of appropriate living skills to maintain a drug-free lifestyle and on making use of the many agencies that are available to people who are serious about recovery from addiction.

The McAuley Program is based on belief in the dignity and value of the human person irrespective of race, creed, national origin or financial status.

"EVITA" will begin at 6.30pm followed by a champagne supper and entertainment provided by the University of Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.
