Invitations to contribute Higher School Certificate results were issued to all diocesan schools with senior students.
St Francis Xavier's College
From Br Hubert Williams FMS, Principal
Students of St Francis Xavier's College Hamilton gained gratifying results in the 2005 Higher School Certificate. In thirty courses, the cohort achieved an average mark above the state average. Robert Hayes deserves congratulations on being a recipient of a Premier's Award as one of the State's All Rounders. Appearing in the Top Achievers listing were Jessica Dunn, Elise Grist, Rebecca Keevers and Nicola Kennewell.
The Distinguished Achievers listing contained 174 references to the College. Special congratulation to Rebecca Keevers and her teachers on Rebecca's placement as First in the State in Studies of Religion 2 Unit. The fine results arise not only from the top achievers. It is the commitment and efforts of the vast majority of our young people that enable us to feel proud. Overall we have much to be grateful for. The dedication of our fine teaching staff is warmly acknowledged.

These results are truly remarkable and they bear testimony to the dedication and commitment of all community members involved in the education process at St Clare's. Congratulations to the students, their teachers and parents. The collaborative effort has been superb. I am extremely proud of all our students who sat for the 2005 HSC and delighted with their excellent achievements. St Paul 's High School, Booragul
From Gerard Mowbray, Principal
We firstly congratulate each and every student who has been able to survive the HSC marathon. If you have striven for your best, then you indeed are a champion and should recognise yourself as such. Whether or not you make it into academic credit lists is somewhat irrelevant; if you have achieved a personal goal by completing the HSC and have created meaningful pathways for yourself, then you are a success story – and we are proud of you.
Broadly speaking, St Paul 's has attained very strong academic results, with a major cluster of results in the upper three bands, with minimal results in Bands 1 and 2.
We have, as always, been thrilled with outstanding academic performances by nine students who attained a University Admissions Index (UAI) of 90 or more, which is a major feat. These students are Carly Anthony, Courtney Chivers, Rachel Feeney, Kate Graves, Paul Hodgins, Amy Lee Mat, Kristen McCarter, Jenny Stevens and Erica Wales.
There was a great depth of students attaining fabulous results in the 80s, again a feat of substantive proportions; the likes of Joshua Agnew, Renee Thomas, Katherine Garrett, Catherine Mudford, Mitchell Nolan, Andrew Parkes, Jonathon Seysener (the recipient of a scholarship to study Surveying, which will link Jonathon to Lake Macquarie City Council) Josh Cornford, Sarah Dawson, James Sneddon, Ailie Silkman and Kris Snell.
At the time of writing, I am relying on the ‘bush telegraph' for updated information, so my list is incomplete – to those whose names I do not have, my apologies. To recognise outstanding scholarship is a delight. Kate Graves is our Dux, with a UAI of 99.25. Kate, while clearly a bright mind, was one of the hardest and most consistent workers I have ever seen – there is a simple message there for many. All Saints College, St Mary's Campus
From John Frize, Principal
St Mary's Campus, All Saints College, Maitland achieved impressive HSC results last year. 286 students sat a total of 1,522 exam papers, producing 89 Band 6 results shared amongst 39 students. Almost 14% of our students received at least one band 6 and 36% of all papers were awarded a Band 5 or Band 6. This is significantly higher than the state average result. Students sat exams in a total of 38 subjects and 80% of these subjects obtained equal to or greater than state average results. Only seven papers (of 1522!) received a mark under 50 (less than 0.004% of results were in Band 1!).
All of our students deserve to be commended on these outstanding outcomes. Amongst our notable achievers was Alexander Simmons who obtained a band 6 in all of his subjects, on his way to achieving a UAI of 98.7.
Philip Marquet (99.3), Brock McPhee (99.1), Rhianne Smith (98.45), and Emma Lightbody (98.35) also achieved impressive UAIs.
Particular mention should be made of Pathways student Lauren Hubert, who has struggled with ill health during an extended period of study at St Mary's, and has shown the value of perseverance and dedication in achieving a remarkable UAI of 97.4.
