The Diocesan Liturgy Council (DLC) organised the Trial to assist parishes by providing an opportunity to access good quality, constantly updated liturgical resources. As part of the Trial, three Workshops were offered around the diocese and 87 people participated and had their eyes further opened to the breadth of resources available on LiturgyHelp.
Experience this year has shown the importance of parishes having access to a resource such as LiturgyHelp. Over these months several parishes have experienced the departure of significant members who have taken responsibility for important liturgical ministry, particularly the preparation of key events. Some of these include our smaller, more remote parishes. This experience has highlighted for the Liturgy Council the importance, even urgency, of parishes having local access to good liturgical resources; resources that can help people to feel confident as they take up new areas of ministry.
Prior to the trial, 8 parishes from our diocese subscribed to LiturgyHelp. Currently the annual parish subscription fee is $420. Several people commented after the Workshops that this is absolutely good value for money. Another option available to us is to consider a diocesan licence. This would provide each parish with the same access to LiturgyHelp at a reduced cost. However a diocesan licence is only economically sound if all parishes are going to make use of the resource.
The following survey invites you to provide your feedback on LiturgyHelp to the Diocesan Liturgy Council. Based on your experience, we are asking you to make a recommendation about its usefulness to your parish and about the advisability of taking out a diocesan subscription. The Liturgy Council will also have access to data from LiturgyHelp about parish usage during the trial. The Council will consider all this information in making a recommendation to the Diocesan Executive regarding a diocesan subscription.
We invite you to take this opportunity to provide your feedback by completing the following online survey. We estimate it will take you about 10 minutes. The closing date for completing the survey is Monday September 1. This will enable the Liturgy Council to analyse the survey responses and make a decision at its meeting on Thursday 11 September.
To assist parishes, LiturgyHelp is kindly maintaining your access to the site until the DLC determines its recommendation to the Diocesan Executive. If there is NOT sufficient support for a Diocesan Licence, parishes who wish to take out or continue an existing licence will have uninterrupted access and will be invoiced by LiturgyHelp for usage beginning September 1, 2014. In this eventuality parishes not wishing to take out a licence will have their access teminated.
