St Joseph's Lochinvar Debutante Ball

Saturday 1 June was an exciting night for St Patrick’s Parish Lochinvar with the annual Catholic Debutante Ball being held at the Maitland City Bowls, Sports and Recreation Club in Rutherford.

St Joseph's Lochinvar Debutante Ball

Nine debutantes and their partners were presented to Fr Paul O'Neill, Parish Priest of the Chisholm Region during an "Evening at Tiffany's". The theme was set beautifully by the wonderfully elegant 'Tiffany' decorations and also by local teacher from All Saints College, Lochinvar Campus, Alicia Paterson commencing the production with the ever timeless 'Moon River'.

Matron of Honour, Mrs Susan Redgrove, Committee President for 2013, was assisted by Flower Girl Isabelle Dixon and Pageboy Matthew Dixon (all long term parishioners), to provide support for the debutantes and their partners being presented to Fr Paul O'Neill, Parish Priest of the Chisholm Region, their parents, family and guests and the parish community on the night.

The 2013 debutantes and their partners were:

Brooke Peters ~ Liam Kirkwood
Kimberly Peters ~ Brent Bolam
Danielle Davies ~ Cody Kauter
Emily Dyson ~ Blake Grierson
Taylor Lund ~ Elliot Pearce
Baylee Hollingshed ~ Luke McGuinness
Hayley Reid ~ Mitchell Schofield
Courtney Cullity ~ Joseph Gurr
Abbey O'Toole ~ Craig Goodman

The elegant presentation dance to the classic 'Moon River' was taught to the young people  by Maxine and Greg from Maxijazz Dance Studio. The students can be very proud of the their wonderful performance on the evening as well as the fine young adults they are. Following the official part of the evening, everyone was able to relax and enjoy a wonderful meal provided by Oates Catering Service and dancing music from Iguana – which was enjoyed by many judging by the full dance floor!

The Committee was greatly assisted by the wonderfully mature and enthusiastic approach that the debutantes and their partners brought to the event, showing their readiness to be full members of the parish community.

Other contributors who donated their services and time to help make the event a great success included Maitland City Bowls, Sport and Recreation Club, BD Print Rutherford, EAMS Pty Ltd, and Maitland Signs, which have supported the event for many years now.

As always the parish committee was also assisted by their partners and many other parishioners helping to decorate, operate spotlighting, MC duties, and generally coordinating the night, making it a true parish community event.

We look forward to another wonderful Ball in 2014 for another group of young adults of our parish.
