Almost fifty ladies – and Bishop Bill – gathered at the Therry Centre for food and fellowship in an atmosphere of faith.
Donella referred to the story of Mary and Martha in prayer and the aspects she shared of her own life betrayed a blend of the active and contemplative. She recapped the background behind, and outcomes of, the Australian Bishops landmark study Woman and Man: One in Christ Jesus (2000), and described their initiative as “visionary, audacious and courageous”.
Donella reminded the assembly that the CACW was in fact, “the bishops’ conscience in regard to women” and said that we tend to forget that “Jesus’ ministry was funded by women.”
