Ladies who lunch

MacKillop Parish (incorporating Charlestown, Gateshead and Redhead) recently held a lunch to help feed the livestock in the fire stricken area around the town of Coonabarrabran.

Ladies who lunch

The devastated area is widespread and the destruction to infrastructure, vegetation and livestock is immense. This leaves some farmers without sufficient means to feed or agist the stock they have left.

This social occasion was enjoyed by 62 of our parishioners. They suffered the forty trivia questions put to them during a light lunch with great enthusiasm and humour.

A sum of over $1700 dollars was raised to help those in this farming community affected by the fires, and as a parish we are proud and happy to contribute to such a worthy cause.

As in times past, when our parishioners have been called upon to help support a “cause” such as this financially, we can only be amazed at the generous and enthusiastic response.

In these difficult times for our church, it is comforting to know that the Holy Spirit is moving among us, and uniting us as a community. I am proud of our parish.
