"Socktober" at San Clemente High School, Mayfield

Each October San Clemente supports Catholic Mission with “Socktober” – Sock it to social justice in October. On Thursday 25 October students arrived in a range of brightly coloured socks to support a group of children living in extreme poverty in the Philippines.

The students had been collecting small change in roll call each day throughout October. The Year 7 roll call group Tenison raised the most money and was rewarded with a free lunch.

Students and staff enjoyed a community, team driven afternoon with a wide range of activities. Students slurped scary spiders from the HSIE staff, threw wet sponges at the English department, purchased helium balloons from the Science faculty and calculated how many sausages they could eat for lunch from Maths teachers.

There were many more activities which made for a wonderful afternoon for everyone. San Clemente raised close to $2500 for Catholic Mission’s “Restore Hope to someone special” project. Well done!
