Social Justice & Welfare

A commitment to social justice is an essential characteristic of a life lived according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our Catholic faith calls us to work for justice, serve those in need, pursue peace, and to work toward the full realisation of the dignity and rights of our sisters and brothers around the world. In the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle many groups exist to bring about a more just and compassionate society. Some of these include:

Aboriginal Catholic Ministry
Caritas Australia
Catholic Mission
Catholic Social Teaching
Centacare Newcastle
House of Hospitality
Kids Care Mentoring Service
Catholic Earthcare Australia

Mercy Community Services
No Interest Loans Scheme
Society of St Vincent de Paul
Social Justice Council
Two Bishops Trust
Council for Australian Catholic Women

Diocesan Child Protection & Professional Conduct Unit
Seasons for Growth
