The
Diocesan Liturgy Council is a vital team of people who
serve the diocese by supporting and empowering communities
in their experience of worship by promoting and encouraging
sound liturgical principles, personal research and formation,
listening and advising communities, and creating and organising
opportunities for the diocesan community. |
Our
Origins
The
Diocesan Liturgy Council is one of five councils who find
their origin in the 1992-93 Diocesan Synod. They are responsible
to assist the entire diocesan community to translate its vision
and Pastoral Plan into action, in relation to the council's
specific area of interest. They do this in keeping with the diocesan
vision: To hear God's people and empower them to participate
fully in Christ's mission.
The Liturgy
Council was re-established by the Diocesan Pastoral Council
in 1996 to actively promote challenging, thoughtful and well-planned
liturgical celebrations and encourage the parishes of the diocese
to be creative in the way they plan liturgies.
