To offer a way of life based on our Christian heritage which maximises each person's health, happiness, general well being and feeling of security.
Excellence in care for each person
Catholic Care was formally established by the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle on 14th April 1992 to provide and manage a range of services for older people.
About 600 dedicated employees provide services to accommodate a range of lifestyle choices including independent living, residential care (nursing care and hostel care), community care (services provided to older people who choose to stay in their own homes) and respite care.
Catholic Care manages a nursing home at St Joseph's Sandgate, incorporating Maximilian Kolbe House which caters for those with ethno-specific needs.
Hostel style accommodation is provided at Cooinda Hostel (Singleton), St Martin De Porres Hostel (Waratah), St Paul's Hostel (Cundletown), Mt Carmel Village (Maitland), St Francis Village (Eleebana), Nazareth Village (Belmont North), and Tanilba Shores Village (Tanilba Bay).
As well as providing hostel accommodation, the villages also have a number of independent living units.
In addition to the 134 independent living units accommodated in our villages, Catholic Care also manages a total of 20 stand-alone independent living units located at Ephesus (Lambton), St Luke's Terrace (Cooks Hill) and Tours Terrace (Hamilton South).
