DIOCESE CONTRIBUTES TO ANTHOLOGY An initiative of the Commission for Australian Catholic Women, 58 Catholic women across Australia have contributed to the book with their reflections on being a Catholic woman in Australia. The Council for Australian Catholic Women (CACW) was established by the Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference in December 2000 to promote the participation of women in the Catholic Church of Australia. For more information about CACW visit the national website.

Travelling Photographic Exhibition 2009

Newcastle is the first port of call for a travelling photographic exhibition highlighting the contribution of contemporary Australian Catholic women to their church, community and nation.

The exhibition, a first for the Australian church, is an initiative of the Council for Australian Catholic Women. Bishop Michael Malone, Bishop of Maitland-Newcastle and Chair of the Bishops Commission for Church Ministry (which encompasses the Council for Australian Catholic Women), nominated two local women to feature in the exhibition: Bev Hincks and Louise Campbell.

Their stories and photographs join those of women from every state in an exhibition that is visiting towns and cities all over Australia.
